the golden amber pause

slender fingers unbind 
knotted formality
unpacking hours
filing away the day 

awkward little feet 
reside adjacent
wriggling some rhythm
but never keeping time 

at some point
the universe resumes 
all concerned will mourn 
the golden amber pause
